Coordinator of Accessible Technology Position Summary:
The Coordinator of Accessible Technology provides technical assistance, training and support to students, faculty, staff and administrators of the College in the implementation of appropriate adaptive technologies across campus to meet the access needs of the campus community. The Coordinator provides leadership in the implementation and revision of the College's Accessible Technology Plan and in coordinating the College's compliance efforts in meeting and maintaining accessibility standards in electronic and information technology.
Duties and Responsibilities: Assist students with disabilities in the acquisition of alternative educational formats, including ordering, maintaining and creating accessible materials, as needed. Train students with disabilities in the implementation and use of appropriate adaptive technologies to meet individual access needs, and manage student equipment loans and returns. Train faculty in the use of adaptive technologies for the classroom to facilitate positive teaching and learning experiences and provide access and equal educational opportunity for all students. Serve as liaison to administrators, faculty and staff regarding initiatives to make the campus more accessible, including conducting trainings and providing input in matters of procurement. Collaborate with other units that have accessible technology responsibilities within the College, especially Information Technology, Distributed Education and Web Design, in promoting universal access, supporting implementation of adaptive technologies across campus and planning for new software/hardware. Assist the College in monitoring compliance with state and federal laws regarding accessible electronic and information technology, specifically WCAG 2.1, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the ADAAA. Provide leadership in the implementation and revision of the institution's Accessible Technology Plan. Support the technical needs of the Disability Services office and testing center. Serve on appropriate committees, including the Computing and Technology Committee. Perform other related duties and special projects, as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Computer Science, Counseling, Social Services, or related field. Three year's work experience serving consumers with disabilities or educational disadvantages. One year experience supporting and promoting technology in an educational setting.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with adaptive technologies. Prior experience in higher education. Prior teaching experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics: Strong end-user computer skills in both hardware and software. Working knowledge of accessibility standards and disability law in higher education. Strong leadership skills. Strong written and oral communication skills. Willingness to learn new technologies. Ability to work with a variety of individuals across multiple disciplines. Ability to prioritize and multi-task. Ability to work as part of a team.
Pay Rate: 40,200.00 - 48,743.00 annual salary depending on experience
