The Office of the Chancellor is the lead administrative office overseeing all areas of UCSC, providing leadership in the execution of the mission, vision and strategic plans for the campus. As representatives of the Office of the Chancellor, all members of the Chancellor's immediate staff are expected to model the UCSC Principles of Community in their interactions with senior leaders, faculty, students and staff at all levels of the organization, with colleagues throughout the UC system and in their interactions with agencies, organizations and individuals outside of the UC system.

With an understanding of the university, including its priorities and expectations, and the ability to translate this into effective representation of the Office of the Chancellor, the incumbent provides executive level administrative and fiscal support to Office of the Chancellor. The incumbent must work in an environment of heavy workloads, pressing deadlines and shifting priorities where a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity to issues is present, and work must be done promptly and with a high degree of accuracy. The ability to adapt to consistently shifting priorities, strict and sometimes competing deadlines and unexpected urgent situations within a team environment is critical.

Under the general supervision of the Executive Assistant to the Chancellor, the incumbent is responsible for providing administrative and analytical support, coordinating executive level events, assisting/coordinating activities, tasks and workflow, and working on special projects.

In addition to providing executive level administrative support and events coordination to the Office of the Chancellor, the Events Specialist and Administrative Analyst (ES/AA) serves as facilities manager for the University House (UH), which serves as the Chancellor's residence.

Qualifications include:

Related professional level administrative / analytical experience.

Thorough knowledge and understanding of concepts, principles and practices of event planning and public relations, including event design, organization and production.

Ability to work cooperatively and productively within a strong team environment.

Demonstrated organizational and project management skills to produce high quality events.

Experience maintaining a high standard of productivity within a broad scope of responsibility despite frequent interruptions. Ability to complete large volume of diverse tasks efficiently, responding effectively to priorities, and meeting established deadlines.

Selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a criminal history background check.
