Position Summary
The Media Services Technician provides assistance to the Media Services Manager in installation of classroom audiovisual and instructional technology equipment, coordination of the delivery of audiovisual services to UIW classrooms as requested by faculty or other staff. The Media Services Technician supports and maintains in-house audiovisual equipment and media assets, including operating, maintaining, distributing, installing, configuring, repairing and upgrading various electronic products while ensuring their optimal performance. The Media Services Technician troubleshoots problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user training and assistance where required. The Media Services Technician provides delivery services to the UIW community.

-Maintains proficiency in the installation and maintenance of desktop and laptop computers

-Maintains and updates the work order ticketing system to reflect request or project completion;
-Reserves equipment as required in support of instructional and other campus activities;

-Assists the Media Services Manager and Lead Media Services Technician with audiovisual and instructional technology classroom installations;
-Collaborate with Media Services Manager and Lead Media Services Technician to establish and enforce proper AV practices and procedures;
-Manage inventory control of media services equipment;
-Coordinates daily classroom technology checks;
-Advises senior staff on physical security issues related to audiovisual equipment;
-Participates in professional development as required

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
-Customer service skills;
-General management skills in the supervision and training of student workers;
-Knowledge of audiovisual and instructional technology equipment installation, including digital matrix switchers, digital signal processors, projectors and codecs;
-Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate a number of projects simultaneously;
-Effective written and oral communication skills;
-Versatile to work effectively as an individual, team leader, or team member;
-Capable of working with minimal supervision and under stress and to meet deadlines;
-Proficient in Windows OS, Microsoft Suite
(Office, Outlook, etc.) Skype;
-Ability to perform IT hardware and software diagnostics (laptops, desktops, mobile computing devices, audio-video hardware, peripherals, etc.);
-Understanding of audio/visual infrastructure and voice/data applications and ability to troubleshoot installing, testing and supporting AMX, Crestron and/or Extron control systems; -Possess strong technical skills on a variety of audio/visual systems equipment;
-Ability to read drawings and schematics;
-Competently and safely use hand and power tools;
-Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
-Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
High School diploma or its equivalent
Required Work Experience
Entry-level position; 6-months related work experience working with audiovisual technologies
Preferred Qualifications
-Familiarity with AMX, Biamp, Crestron and Extron;
-Experience working with wired and wireless networks;
-Experience working in an academic institution;
-Bachelors Degree in Communications or related technical field
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Work Hours
-Fall / Spring -10am-7pm;
-Summer 8am to 5pm;
-Hours subject to change as required.
-Work weekends as required.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs to transport equipment
