Position Summary*:
The Campus Dean of Students is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the campus's student affairs/services functions in close collaboration with the campus Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the CT State administration. Through collaborative work with the campus leadership team, the Dean of Students ensures that all out-of-classroom campus services operate effectively and develops strong relationships with staff and faculty. They shall ensure that students can access all buildings and services necessary to support student success at the campus.
The Campus Dean of Students will oversee and manage the following campus functions:
- Student Code of Conduct and Procedures
- Title IX
- Disability Services
- Wellness Services/Counseling
- Campus Behavioral Intervention Team
- Student Activities
- Student Government
- Bookstore
- Veteran's Services
- Food Pantry
- Testing and Tutoring Services
- Recruitment and Enrollment Management
- Access to admissions, onboarding registration, and financial aid.
- Student Support programs including but not limited to activities that address food and housing insecurity, mental health, and childcare.
- Guided Pathways advising
- Campus Safety
The following examples of duties and accountabilities illustrate the general range of responsibilities assigned to the position but are not intended to limit the required duties. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the broad scope of the position.
- Student Support Services
- The Dean is responsible for directing activities supporting student development and implementing all compliance policies and processes.
- Student Relationships
- The Dean is accountable for building and ensuring a safe and educational campus climate and assuring that students have all appropriate resources available to complete their academic program successfully.
- Collaboration with Academic Affairs
- The Dean will work closely with the Dean of Faculty to ensure that the academic and classroom needs of students on the campus or met by working together to create a supportive educational environment, respond to student issues with instructors under the leadership of the Dean of Faculty and working collaborate with appropriate academic leadership.
- Hiring, evaluation, and professional development
- The Dean of Students is accountable to the campus President/CEO for the assessment of hiring needs within the campuses and the direction of recruitment, evaluation, and ongoing support of all administrative staff in the student services at the campus.
- Fiscal Responsibilities
- The Dean is accountable for fiscal planning related to campus activities and strategic needs of the campus.
- Community Relationships
- The Dean is accountable for developing and maintaining connectivity between the Campus and the community, state, and national organizations.
- Public Relations
- The Dean will support the campus President/CEO in maintaining community connections, communicating event information, and coordinating campus activities that are open to the general public.
- Recruitment and Enrollment
- The Dean is responsible for directing local area recruitment efforts and the student enrollment process under a "One Stop Model" of operations.

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in an appropriately related higher education field with four (4) or more years of managerial experience in Student Affairs/Higher Education, including two (2) years of supervisory experience or a combination of education, training and experience which would provide the competencies required for successful performance of the position's essential duties.

Preferred Qualifications:
- A Doctoral degree.
- Evidence of knowledge and skills in developing and implementing student conduct matters.
- Planning, developing, and evaluating academic and student services and programs.
- Relevant experience in associate degree education and demonstrated understanding of a comprehensive community college.
- Experience and working knowledge of regional and specialized accreditation, professional standards, and certifications/accreditations relevant to campus services and programming.
- Leading, directing, and evaluating student support staff in a higher education environment.
- Management of operating budgets and plans.
- Research, information, and computer literacy skills, including but limited to:
- Development of databases in support of outcomes assessment
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Evidence-based decision making
- Proven leadership ability and demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of members of the College community, including those with disabilities.
- Effective at operating in a matrixed environment with teams from other areas within the college
- Proven success at problem-solving.
$114,110 to $142,637 (midpoint) approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits.

Selection Procedure:
