Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Counselor for the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program.

The candidate would be expected to: support the mission of Monmouth University and the Educational Opportunity Fund program through comprehensive support services for educationally under-prepared and economically-disadvantaged scholars; meet scholars individually and in groups to discuss areas of personal, academic and career counseling; assist in implementing the 5 week summer academy; social engagement and workshop development; work with scholars from application through graduation and beyond.

This is an in-person on-campus, non-remote position.

Required Degree, License or Certifications:
Bachelor's degree

Required Skills or Software:
Basic Knowledge of MS Word 2016, Basic Knowledge of MS Excel 2016, Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately

  • Bachelors degree in a related field.
  • Experience serving a diverse student/client population from backgrounds with limited access to academic and financial resources.
  • An understanding and commitment to the role of opportunity programs and student success.
  • Effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
  • Computer literacy with standard office applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, student information systems, and other web-based platforms.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate evening or weekend programming activities (e.g., summer academy, recruitment, etc.) as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in Counseling, Social Work, Higher Education, Education, Psychology.Experience in higher education, college counseling, or related student development experience in a college setting. Demonstrated ability and skill in addressing the issues and factors impacting at-risk college students.



  • Demonstrated experience with developing creative initiatives to meet the needs of students/clients. Ability to thrive working in a team environment, with demonstrated experience developing strong working relationships with both internal and external partners.
