Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for two (2) Specialist Professors in the Nursing department. These positions are for the 2024-2025 academic year and are two-year appointments with the possibility of subsequent multi-year reappointments. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, but priority will be given to applications received by July 15, 2024. This search will remain open until it is filled.

The Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies has 38 full-time faculty, 14 staff, and close to 1,000 students. The School offers undergraduate health studies, health promotion, health and physical education, master's physician assistant, doctoral occupational therapy, undergraduate, master's, and doctoral nursing programs, and post-master's and continuing education programs.

The BSN, MSN, DNP, and post-graduate APRN certificate programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). We have also been ranked among the top 100 best nursing schools in New Jersey (#4), in the Mid-Atlantic Region (#40), and private nursing schools nationwide (#99) by Nursing Almanac Schools 2021. Monmouth's graduate program has been named one of the best ACEN and CCNE Accredited MSN-FNP programs for 2021 in the Northeast by GraduateNursingEDU.org.

This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Required Years of Experience: 1

Other Requirements:
  • Masters degree in nursing or an earned doctorate degree in nursing.
  • New Jersey professional registered nurse licensure or eligibility with license required at time of employment dependent on Board of Nursing response time.
  • Minimum three (3) years of direct care experience as a registered nurse or minimum of one (1) year as a certified/licensed advanced practice nurse.
  • Documented expertise in their area(s) of teaching responsibility; a demonstrated (or potential to demonstrate) ongoing disciplinary currency and/or scholarly achievement.
  • One year (1) of teaching experience in the classroom, skills/sim lab, or as a clinical instructor in Nursing at a college or university.
  • Ability to work independently.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • An earned doctorate in nursing or related field.
  • Nursing practice as a licensed RN or Nurse Practitioner with recent medical surgical nursing experience.
  • Pediatric and/or psychiatric mental health nursing experience is a plus.
  • Current nurse practitioner certification in family or adult gerontology will also be considered.
