Job Description:


The SUNY Grants for Research, Opportunity, and Workforce (GROW) Support Unit will provide direct support to all SUNY campuses in identifying and securing grant and contract funding from federal, state, local and other sources to support research and scholarship, with a specific focus on activities that will expand economic mobility and create workforce opportunity for New Yorkers.

The SUNY GROW Support Unit Project Associate plays a critical role in identifying, pursuing, and helping to secure grant funding to support the organization's mission and initiatives. This position contributes to multiple cross-functional projects, requiring a candidate that is a resourceful, detail oriented, and collaborative team member with excellent project and people management skills.

Responsibilities:


Review potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources.
Attend webinars and trainings and report findings back to GROW Director.
Assist in writing portions of grant proposals and applications that effectively communicate the organization's goals and funding needs.
Assists in coordinating multiple projects across the organization, from inception to completion, to ensure deliverables are met in a timely manner.
Collaborate with program managers and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and data for proposals and projects.
Help guide faculty researchers in developing the necessary content for grant applications on time by answering questions, reviewing language, interpreting requirements, and advocating for their needs.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing grantors and funding organizations.
Seek new funding opportunities by networking and attending relevant events, conferences, and meetings.
Monitor and ensure compliance with grant requirements, reporting deadlines, and budgetary restrictions with appropriate offices.
Maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, submissions, and outcomes.
Assist in facilitating regular project status meetings, communicate updates, and provide timely reports to stakeholders, including project status, issues, risks, and resolutions.


Requirements:

Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 2 years of experience (e.g., nonprofit management, public administration, communications, or in the field of science, technology or engineering).
Personal and professional integrity that communicates a sense of mission, leadership, and ability to self-start.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related field.
Prior experience in a project management role, handling multiple large-scale projects simultaneously, utilizing project management tools and methods for planning and implementation.
Certification in grant writing or nonprofit management.
Project Management Professional certification.
Experience with online grant application portals, databases, and grant management software.

Salary Range- The compensation for this role is between $65,000 to $75,000. The pay will depend on a variety of factors that may include but are not limited to experience, education, training, and certifications.
