Job Summary:

The Program Director of Clinical Business Operations will collaborate with the Vice Chair of Finance and Administration, the Vice Chair for Clinical Performance, and the Vice Chair of Faculty Wellbeing to provide leadership to faculty and staff across our clinical mission. This role will partner with the Practice Optimization Manager to develop and implement the department's key clinical priorities. This role will lead the business functions supporting those efforts including managing the portfolio of clinical (cFTE) productivity reporting and managing reporting tools tracking key department clinical KPIs. This role will also identify key opportunities to improve the financial sustainability of our clinical care models.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Management and evaluation of faculty clinical time (cFTE) performance and growth planning efforts.
  • Define and track clinical expectations in partnership with the Vice Chair for Clinical Performance for all faculty within the Department.
  • Provide direct supervision and oversight of the CU data analytics team responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual productivity reporting including but not limited to CARE effort, RVU productivity, and clinical presence.
  • Partner with the finance team and sections during the budget cycle to accurately project charge and patient income projections and clinical FTE expenses.
  • Develop and manage a centralized departmental data center to provide real-time, proactive reporting and analytics tools to sections connecting productivity and business planning efforts with the strategic goals of operational excellence initiatives.
  • Partner with the Manager of Practice Optimization and the entire Department Operational Excellence and Transformation team to ensure that key clinical initiatives are successful and making an impact on faculty well-being and sustainability efforts.
  • Act as key contact and expert on department operational excellence data, which includes training and educating service line leadership regarding connecting the data with clinical strategy.

Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 1-2 days per week on campus as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, health care administration, education, social sciences, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Six (6) years of demonstrated progressive experience in a university and/or healthcare setting.
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Condition of Employment:
  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in health administration, or equivalent field.
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in an academic healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical practice professional billing, revenue cycle capture, and clinical data measurement.
  • Background in process improvement methodologies, such as LEAN Six Sigma.
  • Demonstrated prior experience in quality improvement and change management.
  • Demonstrated prior experience in financial management, clinical operations, and strategic planning.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience working in complex behavioral health or academic medical settings.
  • Effective communication and facilitation skills.
  • Management of large, complex budgets.
  • Strong leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and grow team members.

The hiring range for this position has been established as $83,631 to $106,379.
