The Associate Director of Student Engagement oversees key student life and leadership programs, including student clubs and organizations, the Student Government Association (SGA) Budget Advisory Committee, and the LIVE Leadership program. This role is essential in promoting student involvement, leadership, and diversity initiatives, while fostering an inclusive campus environment. The position also provides leadership and support for the Engagement Leader Program and manages the university's student engagement platform, Mountain Lion Connect. Evening and weekend work required. As needed, other duties may be assigned to this position by the Director of Student Engagement.

Summary
The Associate Director of Student Engagement oversees key student life and leadership programs, including student clubs and organizations, the Student Government Association (SGA) Budget Advisory Committee, and the LIVE Leadership program. This role is essential in promoting student involvement, leadership, and diversity initiatives, while fostering an inclusive campus environment. Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Student Clubs and Organizations:
- Program Management: Oversee all aspects of student club and organization programming, including the processes for registration, recognition, training, and event planning. Ensure that all student organizations comply with university policies and procedures.
- Financial Oversight: Provide comprehensive fiscal management for student clubs and organizations, including budgeting, monitoring expenditures, managing financial transactions, and contracts. Work closely with university departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
- Advising and Support: Serve as a primary advisor to student organizations, offering guidance and training on leadership development, event planning, risk management, and diversity initiatives. Foster an environment that promotes student learning and leadership.
- Platform Management: Manage and continuously improve Mountain Lion Connect, the university's student engagement platform, ensuring it meets the needs of students and staff. Oversee the integration of this platform with other university systems and processes.
- Awards and Recognition: Lead the planning and execution of the annual student organization and student leader award ceremony, celebrating achievements and encouraging continued engagement.
Student Government Association (SGA) Budget Advisory Committee:
- Primary Advisement: Act as the main advisor to the Student Government Association's Budget Advisory Committee (BAC), providing ongoing training, guidance, and support. Ensure that committee members are well-informed about university financial policies and procedures.
- Financial Management: Oversee the allocation and tracking of SGA funds, ensuring transparent and accurate management of budgets and financial transactions. Supervise the maintenance of financial records and reporting for SGA activities.
- Policy Development: Collaborate with SGA and university administration to develop and update policies related to the allocation and use of student fees. Ensure that all financial activities are conducted in alignment with university and state regulations. This position will oversee student employees that support the SGA.
LIVE Leadership Program:
- Program Development: Lead all aspects of the creation and implementation of leadership programming and curriculum for the LIVE Leadership program. Focus on fostering leadership skills, ethical decision-making, and civic engagement among participants. Promote and encourage LIVE Leadership students to serve in the Student Government Association, offering support and resources.
- Recruitment and Retention: Coordinate the recruitment process for new participants, ensuring a diverse and inclusive cohort. Develop strategies to retain participants and support their ongoing leadership development.
- Event Coordination: Organize and execute key program events, including the annual retreat, scholarship selection process, and the end-of-year recognition ceremony. Ensure these events align with the program's goals and enhance participant experiences.
Engagement Leader Program:
- Supervision and Training: Co-supervise over 30 Engagement Leaders and 2 Lead Engagement Leaders, providing mentorship, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities. Design and implement a comprehensive training program that equips leaders with the skills needed to support new student engagement and community building during Clyde's Kickoff and other events throughout their first semester.
- Event Planning: Collaborate with university departments and student leaders to plan and execute Clyde's Kickoff events. Ensure these events are well-organized, inclusive, and aligned with the university's strategic goals.
- Program Evaluation: Lead efforts to develop key performance indicators and metrics that assess the effectiveness of the Engagement Leader Program and its impact on student retention. Collect and analyze feedback from participants to inform the continuous improvement of training and event planning processes.
Leadership and Assessment:
- Training Development: Create and deliver training programs for student life staff and student leaders, focusing on leadership skills, diversity and inclusion, risk management, and university policies. Tailor training sessions to address the specific needs of different student groups and organizational leaders.
- Program Assessment: Develop and implement assessment strategies to evaluate the impact of student engagement programs. Utilize data to track progress, identify areas for improvement, and report findings to the Director of Student Engagement.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the strategic planning efforts of the Department of Student Life and Leadership, aligning student engagement initiatives with broader university goals. Participate in research and development opportunities to advance the field of student affairs.
Collaborations and Relationships:
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships throughout the campus. The position will interact regularly with the following areas: Residence Life and Housing, MOSAIC and LGBTQ+ Resource Center, Health and Wellness, Campus Recreation, Event Services, University Center, Dining and Hospitality, Dean of Students, Facilities, and academic departments.
- Participate in UCCS orientation, outreach, welcome, ceremonial, and commencement activities, as well as large-scale Student Life and Leadership events.
- Represent Student Life and Leadership on various standing or ad hoc committees as assigned.
Administration:
- Ensure timely and accurate case management, documentation, and record-keeping
- Assist with management and administration of the student engagement software, Mountain Lion Connect
- Participates in annual and ongoing reviews of the Student Organization Handbook, SGA Financial Guidelines, and SGA guiding documents.
- Assist in the assessment and evaluation of the student club and organization conduct program, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Contribute to the preparation of annual reports and strategic planning efforts
- Develop and implement various trainings for student clubs and organizations and the SGA.

Required Qualifications:
- Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor's degree in student affairs or a related field.
- Significant experience in student engagement or a similar role is a must.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Experience driving diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in student affairs or a related field is highly desirable.
- The ideal candidate will have experience advising a Student Government Association (SGA) on a college campus.
- Experience leading retention efforts.
- Financial management experience, including budgeting and procurement is preferred.
- Experience developing and implementing program assessment initiatives, strategic goals, student learning outcomes, and consistent reporting and tracking measures.
