Position Summary:
The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
The School of Accounting, Finance, Information Systems and Business Law, one of three schools in the College of Business, is seeking applicants for the Jay Kneedler Distinguished Professorship in Computer Information Systems. This is a 9-month position, tenured at hire, at the rank of associate (Distinguished Scholar) or full professor (Distinguished Professor), with teaching responsibilities both on campus and in varied distance education formats. The distinguished scholar/professor designation is for an initial five-year term, renewable for additional terms at the discretion of the Dean of the College of Business. Anticipated begin date is August 2025.
Responsibilities include teaching two courses (face-to-face and/or online) per semester, scholarship, advising and service activities as indicated by the School Director. Moreover, although faculty are typically assigned to teach 2 or 3 days per week, teaching and service duties may require a campus presence on non-teaching days. The ability to maintain an active research agenda resulting in publication in peer-reviewed journals is required. Distinguished professors are expected to serve as research mentors for junior faculty while also contributing regularly to the normal operations of the College of Business and the life of the university. The successful candidate will have a research record commensurate with the appointment as a distinguished professor. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the mission of the university and the College of Business, which seeks to prepare graduates to be Business Ready to meet the needs of the industry and become leading professionals in their field. The mission is achieved through sound theoretical course work, research and innovative learning activities, industry engagement and service learning.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or D.B.A. in computer information systems or related discipline; and
- Must meet qualifications for rank of associate or full professor with a research record commensurate with the appointment as a distinguished professor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. or D.B.A. from an AACSB accredited institution;
- Demonstrated commitment to public engagement through teaching, service and scholarship;
- Scholarship and/or teaching experience related to cybersecurity; and
- Demonstrated success at grant writing, administration and review.
