Job Summary
The Coordinator II, Financial Aid oversees and supervises daily activities of federal, state, and institutional financial aid awarded to undergraduate and graduate students. Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises Student Financial Aid staff.

Job Description
Typical duties may include but are limited to:
- Supports the oversight and coordination of the federal grant programs, including but not limited to the Pell grant program, the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) program, the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) grant program, and the Federal TRIO grant.
- Responsible for reviewing, monitoring and updating various financial aid processes, including but not limited to the enrollment registration changes report, cost of attendance and unmet need adjustments, award/budget change notifications, package-complete and close requirement reports.
- Reads and interprets federal, state and university regulations regarding financial aid awards and disbursements.
- Independently evaluates students' financial aid applications and exercises professional judgment in making awarding decisions.
- Advises students and parents regarding the financial aid process, provides information on available programs, procedures, and eligibility, and processes program related documents. Assists with monitoring and compliance of the financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress process.
- Assists with the awarding, monitoring, and reviewing of all graduate aid, waivers, and scholarships.
- Provides support to financial aid employment programs, including but not limited to Federal Work Study and the Florida Work Experience programs.
- Supports the awarding, processing and reconciliation of federal and private loans.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises Student Financial Aid staff.

Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
- This position requires either eight years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
- Experience processing federal financial aid and athletic grant-in-aid.
- Experience with Banner Student Information System or similar systems related to awarding and managing aid.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Department of Education rules related to Federal Student Aid rules and regulations, and community college and high school curriculum requirements.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
- Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
- Ability to think critically and make clear, well-reasoned and timely decisions.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
- Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and procedures consistently.
- Ability to provide professional customer service.
- Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes an equitable environment.
