The Senior Director is responsible for the operational, fundraising, financial, programmatic and personnel activities of the Melisa Nellesen Center for Autism and Cole Nellesen Building. The Senior Director is instrumental in working to achieve a range of MNCA initiatives, including mission fulfillment, securing and raising funds, outreach with educational and business partners, and working with outside agencies. Additionally, the Senior Director will be instrumental in the promotion of UVU outreach related to autism; in the design, development, and production of major conferences in the field of autism; and in facilitating and supporting interdisciplinary cooperation between and among MNCA, UVU departments, and other centers across campus.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Responsible for the operational, fundraising, financial, programmatic and personnel activities of the Melisa Nellesen Center for Autism and Cole Nellesen Building. The Director will be instrumental in visioning and achieving a number of important MNCA initiatives, including mission fulfillment, fundraising, and outreach with educational, community, and business partners. Securing and raising funds is a mission critical element of the position.
- Develop and implement Center goals including strategic plans, vision and objectives. Instrumental in the design, development, and production of major conferences and events; in facilitating and supporting interdisciplinary cooperation between and among the MNCA, UVU departments, other centers across campus; and in the promotion of the UVU services for individuals on the autism spectrum.
- Maintains the skills necessary for effective MNCA management and leadership. Represents the Center to the community by serving on related committees/councils, acting as resident expert on ASD [autism spectrum disorder], publishing, and contributing publicly within the autism field. Oversees the staff and leadership within the Center; makes recommendations for retention and promotion of Center staff and provides support for staff development activities.
- Performs other job-related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with master's degree appropriate to discipline (i.e. special education, mental health counseling, psychology, medicine, etc..) and 10+ years of experience within the field.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a PhD in an autism-related field (i.e. special education, mental health counseling, psychology, medicine, etc.)
Licenses or Certifications
BCBA required
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge
- 10+ years of experience related to the essential job duties and to ASD treatment, therapy, diagnosis and educational best practices.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding best practices as it applies to ASD therapies and treatment options.
- Knowledge of organizational development theory and management practices.
- Knowledge of, and significant experience with, higher education administration - including development of policies and procedures.
- Knowledge and strong experience in securing resources and fundraising in higher education practices, policies and procedures with a history of successful results.
- Knowledge and experience in working within FERPA, HIPAA, ADA requirements and regulation compliance.
- Knowledge of successful marketing principles and practices.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and community stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills including strategic planning and prioritization, budget preparation and fiscal management.
- Strong records management skills, including FERPA and HIPAA compliant systems.
- Skill in program planning, development and implementation.
- Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Significant public presentation skills.
- Skills in interpersonal relationships, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups and perform services as a university representative.

- Ability to provide guidance and leadership to professional personnel in the area of expertise.
- Ability to gather and analyze statistical data, generate reports, and successfully publish content as appropriate.

- Ability to create and develop effective work teams with the skills and abilities necessary to accomplish Center and institutional goals.
