Requirements

The Georgetown University Global Health Institute (GUGHI) serves as a university-wide platform for supporting faculty, students, and staff who are contributing to global health through research, teaching, and service. Building upon Georgetown's Jesuit heritage, commitment to social justice, and location in Washington, DC, GUGHI focuses upon exploring, developing, and sharing concrete solutions that public, private, and civil society leaders can use in addressing practical problems facing needy populations in countries throughout the world.

The Senior Fellow will work closely with the academic faculty leaders of the FGHI, the Research Program Director for FGHI, and the Managing Director of GUGHI to provide technical leadership for FGHI and the Commission and play an active role in helping to shape the strategy for both. The Senior Fellow will help to oversee the selection and recruitment of commissioners, coordinate and undertake research reviews for the Commission, including the supervision of research students, and be a core writer and producer of knowledge products related to the commission, namely the final report, and other communications materials, including the Commission announcement and potential editorial. The technical responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

Initiate and further the research and policy activities of the FGHI and Commission.
Engage widely with academics, policymakers, and practitioners working on issues of faith and global health, identifying needs and opportunities for research and policy dialogue.
In collaboration with colleagues at Georgetown and our external partners (including Commission co-chairs and members), design and develop our related research and policy activities and manage their successful delivery.
Actively take part in the coordination activities of FGHI and the Commission, alongside the Research Program Director, including providing technical and written input into grant applications, and supporting meeting and events.

Work Interactions

The incumbent will have the opportunity to work closely with the GUGHI senior leadership team, colleagues from the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace & World Affairs, a range of global health faculty and students across the University, and a network of national and global external partners in this field. The position provides opportunities for professional growth at GUGHI. The Senior Fellow will directly report to GUGHI's Managing Director and may have up to six direct reports (includes student workers). The role will also receive senior oversight from the academic faculty leads of FGHI and the co-chairs of the Commission. The role will work with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the Initiative success.

Requirements and Qualifications

A doctoral degree in international development, religion, global health, public health, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of experience working in policy, research, or practice related to faith communities or faith-inspired organizations in health or international development.
Minimum 3 years of experience leading a project, initiative, or organization
Experience with the design, implementation, and publication of peer-reviewed research
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent skills in public engagement, including building and managing relationships with stakeholders from diverse professional backgrounds, nationalities, political views, cultures, faith-orientations, and languages.

Preferred Requirements and Qualifications

Experience in research or practice specifically relating to the intersection of faith and global/public health
Experiencing in team management
Experience leading a major research or policy initiative
Experience in successful grant writing, budget management, and donor reporting
Experience in organizing international workshops or conferences that involves participants from many different countries

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$66,783.00 - $126,720.23

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
