Responsibilities
Significant Duties and Responsibilities include: Organizing and guiding the construction of costumes for the department, including oversight of shop safety.; Teaching, serving as occasional costume designer, and/or advising student costume designers.; Developing costume budgets, purchasing materials and shop supplies, and reconciling purchase card.; Maintaining, organizing, and overseeing use of resources (costume inventory, equipment, and facilities).; Supervising costume and makeup production practica - including maintaining syllabi, records, and grading.; Serving on departmental committees and/or providing other service to the department.
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree and 5+ years relevant experience in a professional theatre, film, television, or other entertainment industry costume shop as a stitcher, draper, or supervisor.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications include: MFA (Preferred) in theatre, fashion, textiles, or a closely related field and relevant experience in a professional theatre, film, television, or other entertainment industry costume shop as a stitcher, draper, or supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities include: Skill as a stitcher and cutter.; Knowledge of pattern drafting and tailoring.

Conditions of Employment

Other Information
Consideration may be given to candidates with:
- Graduate degree in theatre, fashion, textiles, or a closely related field.
- Experience as a professional or academic theatre costume shop manager or similar.
- Experience as a professional theatre costume designer.
- Experience teaching courses at the university level.
- Ability to teach and guide students in a variety of areas of costume crafts and construction. These may include stage makeup, hair/wigs, millenary, armory, needlecrafts, masks, and other costuming/makeup specialty skills.
- Ability to teach and mentor inexperienced persons in these skills.
- Organizational skills / ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work efficiently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
