Position Description
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-service driven individual to join our team at the National Ranching Heritage Center (NRHC). In this role, you will be the first point of contact for visitors, ensuring they have a welcoming, informative, and memorable experience. You will play an essential part in welcoming visitors, connecting the public with the appropriate staff members, serving as event support, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment. As a key member of our team, you will assist in daily operations and collaborate closely with staff to ensure smooth execution of events and activities, while always prioritizing the safety and satisfaction of our guests.
Key responsibilities include greeting and assisting visitors, answering the main NRHC phone line, providing event support, ensuring visitor safety, and helping to enforce facility policies. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.

Major/Essential Functions
- Visitor Reception & Information: Greet visitors warmly, track visitor counts, and offer information about the NRHC, including exhibit details and upcoming events. Provide guests with brief orientations of what to expect while visiting the center. Check in groups and meeting guests and connect them with appropriate staff.
- Phone & Communication: Answer the NRHC's main phone line, assist with inquiries, and transfer calls to the appropriate staff with relevant details.
- Event & Facility Rental Support: Help with the setup and breakdown for special events and room rentals, ensuring rental clients' needs are met before, during, and after events, including weekends and some evenings.
- Visitor Safety & Comfort: Monitor the facility and historical park for safety, maintenance, and comfort, addressing any issues that may affect the visitor experience and reporting hazards promptly.
- Enforcement & Reporting: Watch the museum facilities, enforce museum rules, report vandalism or illegal activities, and alert staff of security issues. Report injuries and safety concerns. Be familiar with TTU and Lubbock emergency procedures,
- Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with other staff members to ensure smooth operations, including assisting with deliveries, and coordination of maintenance needs for visitor areas.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in written and mathematical processes as may be reflected by the completion of the tenth grade plus one year of security, customer service, public relations or related experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable to drive TTU vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school graduate with valid driver's license and auto insurance.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
- Proven record of accomplishment in customer service role.
- Able to meet and communicate effectively with the public.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently answer phone calls and questions.
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
- Professional presence and ability to work diplomatically with a diverse staff, volunteers, clients and guests.
- Proficient in use of Windows computer systems, Microsoft Office and other applications and able to learn computer-driven phone system.
- Ability to multitask while handling stress and deadlines
- One or two years of customer service, public relations or related experience.
- Knowledge of ranching and/or production agriculture.
