Job Description

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Minnesota State University, Mankato currently has two (2) fixed term vacancies for the 2025-2026 academic year. Position is eligible for renewal up to three (3) additional years based on performance and need. The standard teaching load is twelve (12) credit hours per semester. The responsibilities and qualifications for both positions are as follows:

A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.
The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.
May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university's additional locations, as assigned.
The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding opportunities.
All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement)
Teach a wide spectrum of college mathematics.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree or Ph. D in mathematics, conferred on an official transcript and received in Human Resources prior to August 7, 2025.
Experience in teaching college level mathematics.
Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to this position including social justice and/or anti-racism.

Preferred Qualification

Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Demonstrated effective written, oral communication and/or presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to teach a wide range of courses in mathematics.
Demonstrated ability to use technology in teaching mathematics.
Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to provide professional service within the Department and University.
Willingness to mentor students and supervise undergraduate and graduate students.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers B. A., B. S., M. A. and M. S. programs in mathematics, statistics, and secondary teaching. The Department has 24 full-time faculty committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. Faculty specialties include applied computational mathematics, number theory, combinatorial matrix theory, stochastic differential equations and stochastic processes, partial differential equations and industrial mathematics, topology and dynamical systems, statistics, numerical analysis, probability, algebraic combinatorics and discrete mathematics, real analysis, geometry, optimization, and both elementary and secondary mathematics education. The salary range denoted above is the contractual range; however, salary upon hire is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
