Job Summary
The Department of Communication in the College of Media, Communication, and Information (CMCI) at the University of Colorado (CU) Boulder invites applications for a non-tenure-track position as an assistant teaching professor with a passion for undergraduate education in the field of Communication Studies.
We are seeking a versatile and dynamic teacher with experience and interest in one or more of the following: leading a large lecture and supervising TAs for either Perspectives on Human Communication or Group Interaction courses, teaching in our Residential Academic Program with attention to first-year experience, and/or experience teaching quantitative and qualitative methods to undergraduates. As such, we are seeking candidates well-versed in first-year experience best practices and with demonstrated experience in inclusive pedagogies and the mentoring of a diverse range of undergraduate students. In addition to helping deliver the courses outlined above, teaching faculty have opportunities to teach courses within our curriculum related to their area of expertise.
The position is 75% teaching and 25% service and involves a 3-3 teaching load. In addition to helping to deliver the courses outlined above, teaching faculty have opportunities to teach not only required classes but also courses within our curriculum related to their area of expertise. Service needs within the department may involve supporting student clubs and other forms of learning outside of the classroom, providing training for graduate student teaching development, and engaging with first-year learning initiatives across campus. The Department also regularly offers opportunities for summer teaching appointments, which function separately from, and as optional additions to, the 9-month contract.
The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment. We are an Equal Opportunity employer, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.

Established in 2015, the University of Colorado Boulder College of Media, Communication and Information (CMCI) is at the forefront of the revolution in communication, digital technology and design. Our students and faculty from six departments, an independent PhD program and the recently integrated program in environmental design think across boundaries, innovate around emerging problems and create culture that transcends convention. Additionally, CMCI is focused on providing high-impact learning experiences for students.
Both the Department and CMCI strive to be communities whose excellence is premised on diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Department in particular has made a commitment to developing an actively anti-racist climate. We seek candidates whose past work experiences, teaching, research, or service activities demonstrate their work towards an inclusive environment or an understanding of the experiences of those historically underrepresented in higher education. We encourage applications from all candidates including those who have knowledge, skills, and abilities working with and among historically minoritized communities such as those within minoritized racial and ethnic communities, ciswomen, non-normative genders and sexualities, persons with disabilities, and others who have encountered legacies of marginalization.
