Job Summary

The role will involve writing up research on the environmental history of the McMurdo Dry Valleys for publication as a book. Most of the time will be spent writing and processing archival research. The role will also involve analyzing data using social network analysis, bibliometrics, place-name analysis, and GIS. Who We Are

As the University's oldest institute, INSTAAR has a long history of responding to pressing environmental issues including climate change. Our traditional focus has been on alpine, Arctic, and Antarctic regions, where effects of global change are especially pronounced. In recent decades, our research has broadened to include environmental challenges that span local, regional, and global scales. INSTAAR's research activities integrate field studies, state-of-the-art laboratory experiments, sample analysis, and numerical and laboratory modeling. Our field sites are located across all seven continents and the world's oceans.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Key responsibilities include writing, editing, and processing archives related to the history of the McMurdo Dry Valleys, and analyzing data using social network analysis, bibliometric analysis, place name analysis, and GIS.




What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $34 - $36 per hour.

What We Require

  • We require a PhD, must have conducted environmental history research in McMurdo Dry Valleys.


What You Will Need

  • Previous experience of conducting environmental history research in the McMurdo Dry Valleys is necessary for this role.
  • Excellent skills in writing, archive, social network analysis, bibliometric analysis, place name analysis, and GIS.
