Position Announcement
Utah Valley University is seeking a Building Automation Programmer to play a vital role in optimizing the efficiency and sustainability of campus mechanical systems, including HVAC, lighting, and fire control systems. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to configure system sequences, utilize data analytics to enhance performance, and contribute to the university's energy conservation initiatives. You'll also design and maintain intuitive graphical interfaces and ensure secure user access while managing alarms and system anomalies. Summary of Responsibilities
- Configures and optimizes the sequencing of campus mechanical systems and supporting lighting, and fire control systems. This involves setting up sequences to ensure efficient operation, energy conservation, and occupant comfort. Configures and oversees alarms to promptly detect and address system anomalies or faults. This ensures the safety and reliability of the building systems.
- Utilizes data analytics software to monitor and analyze system data and trends. This role involves assessing system performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing data-driven solutions for increased efficiency. Creates, maintains and modifies graphical interfaces for the building automation system. This responsibility involves designing and updating user-friendly interfaces that allow users to control and monitor the systems easily, enhancing the overall user experience.
- Manages user accounts and credentials, including creating, modifying, and deactivating user profiles, ensuring that only authorized personnel can access and make changes to the system. Implementing security protocols and best practices to safeguard the building automation system from unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber threats. Maintain audit trails and logs of system access and changes made by users, enabling accountability and traceability in case of incidents or system modifications.
- Collaborates and shares knowledge share among team members responsible for different aspects of the building automation systems, such as mechanical, lighting, and fire control. Support team members in expanding their skillsets to work effectively across different automation systems, thereby ensuring flexibility in addressing system-related challenges.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline. Alternatively, an associate degree or vocational training in building automation systems with relevant certifications and 2-3 years of experience.
