Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
The Bagwell College of Education (BCOE) at KSU is one of the largest and strongest educator preparation providers in Georgia offering bachelors, masters, specialists, and doctoral degree programs on-campus, blended, and fully online.
All KSU educator preparation programs are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and many programs are additionally accredited by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC). Bagwell is at the forefront of educator preparation, advancing educational excellence through innovative teaching, research, and service in an ever-changing digital and global learning environment. Bagwell has award-winning faculty and our graduates are sought after by school systems in Georgia and beyond.
As one of the larger departments at KSU, the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education has more than 80 full-time and part-time faculty members. The department serves over 1,000 Elementary and Early Childhood Education undergraduate majors and over 100 graduate majors. It offers programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Its M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education is offered online. Certification for pre-kindergarten to grade five is embedded in the undergraduate program. In addition, the department offers the Birth to Kindergarten Bachelor of Science degree program.
Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Curriculum & Instruction in the Department of Elementary & Early Childhood Education with a preferred start date of August 2025. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate elementary and early childhood foundational courses (e.g., curriculum and assessment, classroom management, elementary and child development, educational research) and other related courses as needed
- Supervising and mentoring teacher candidates in field experiences
- Modeling research based effective teaching and assessment practices
- Maintaining an active research and scholarship agenda
- Service to the department, college, university, community, and/or profession
- Program development/accreditation expectations
- Preparation of teacher candidates in state accreditation and classroom preparation seminar or special topics settings
- Building mutually beneficial community partnerships
- Dissertation/thesis supervision and undergraduate research
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- An earned doctorate, or foreign equivalent, in curriculum and instruction, or related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in elementary and/or early childhood education by hire date
- At least three years of teaching experience in K-12 school settings
- Demonstrated experience to the preparation of Birth through grade 5 teachers in inclusive learning environments
- Evidence of the ability to conduct scholarly activity commensurate with rank and university classification
- Ability to use and model technology in the classroom and/or virtual settings
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to teach course(s) related to K-5 student assessment including purposes, principles and uses of assessment in relation to instructional decision making in the elementary classroom.
- At least three years teaching in an elementary setting
- Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses centering on issues of assessment, classroom management, curriculum and instruction, or educational theories
- Experience in teaching and/or developing online instruction
- Knowledge of current policies in teacher preparation related to the integration of literacy across the curriculum
- Familiarity with district, state, and national assessment practices and purposes
