Director, Career Development and Experiential Learning

The Northeastern University Seattle Campus is seeking an innovative and student-focused Director of Career Development and Experiential Learning to lead career services and experiential learning initiatives. This dynamic role requires collaboration with career and experiential faculty and staff at the Seattle Campus, across the Seattle network, and throughout the Northeastern Global University System.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Associate Dean at the Seattle Campus, the Director will oversee the planning, development, and delivery of career development programs, including full-time employment preparation, co-op opportunities, and experiential learning.

The Director will manage a team of co-op and career advisors and experiential learning specialists and will spearhead the creation and execution of a forward-thinking strategy to ensure students are career-ready and able to achieve exceptional outcomes. Core responsibilities include:

Career Services Development and Delivery
  • Design and manage the campus's career development services in partnership with academic colleges and global colleagues.
  • Oversee the delivery of co-op and career advising, both in-person and virtual, for students across all programs.
  • Organize career fairs and workshops in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Develop and deliver career development programming tailored to students' needs, including co-curricular workshops on skills like resume writing, networking, and interview preparation.
  • Collaborating with global colleagues to share best practices and create unified, high-impact career initiatives.
  • Maintaining flexibility for occasional evening and weekend hours as needed for special events

Leadership
  • Supervise all student-facing co-op and career advisors and experiential learning specialists at the Seattle Campus.
  • Lead, engage, and motivate employees while assisting them in navigating business processes and resolving issues.
  • Administer and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures, communicating them effectively to staff and students.
  • Review staffing needs, develop job descriptions, and lead recruitment plans.
  • Collaborate across Northeastern's global network to create and deliver innovative, impactful programming.
  • Represent the Seattle Campus to senior leadership and key stakeholders in career-related contexts.

Strategic Initiatives
  • Stay current on employment trends, workplace issues, and experiential learning to inform best practices.
  • Proactively integrate trends and research into plans to prepare students for job searches and career success.
  • Support the collection, analysis, and presentation of experiential learning and post-graduate employment data to inform strategic improvements.
  • Recommend and implement data-driven changes to enhance programming and student outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A master's degree required with experience in career design, coaching, or talent acquisition.
  • 5-10 years of professional work in career development.
  • Five years student facing experience in higher education required.
  • Demonstrated experience working with graduate-level international students in a student-facing role.
  • Prior experience in a leadership position responsible for designing and delivering higher ed career services
  • Experience leading, supervising, and developing teams, including the ability to manage performance and support professional growth for full-time staff.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Strong consulting and relationship-building skills with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with diverse constituents.
  • Exceptional organizational, event planning, marketing, and public relations skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce or similar, database programs, and data management/analysis.
  • Goal-oriented with strong presentation skills, high-level customer service, and expertise in building partnerships.

Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency in database management and using data to shape decision-making.
  • Experience creating innovative career development programs tailored to student needs.


The expected hiring range for this position is USD $84,790 to USD $131,425, based upon the position's location, scope and responsibilities.

The salary range is $86,490 to $110,000 based on the position's scope and responsibilities.
