Job Summary:

The Department of Epidemiology in the Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor. The Department's goal is to build a multi-disciplinary faculty engaged in cutting edge epidemiologic and public health research and training. We are seeking faculty who will engage in collaborative, multidisciplinary initiatives in public health for the Colorado's Latino(a) or Latinx communities. We are interested in candidates with deep expertise in Latino public health policy, research, and practice.

The successful candidate(s) will conduct rigorous, externally funded research, and will teach, advise, and mentor students in one or more of the department's graduate degree programs. Applicants should have exceptional methodological skills in epidemiological research, a record of scholarly publications, and evidence of success or ability in obtaining extramural research funding. Applicants also should have strong potential for success in graduate-level teaching and student advising, with an ability to foster supportive and inclusive learning environments for students with diverse backgrounds, identities, and perspectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop independent, collaborative and funded research.
  • Publish research manuscripts in leading peer-reviewed journals.
  • Submit research proposals and obtain extramural funding for research.
  • Teach courses in the PhD, DrPH, MS and/or MPH programs.
  • Mentor junior faculty, professional and graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Participate in translational and practice activities of the school.

Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is expected to work onsite on the Anschutz Medical Campus located in Aurora, Colorado for a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • A terminal degree in a field relevant to epidemiology or academic public health.
  • Demonstrated scholarly and practice activity in Latino(a) or Latinx health, social determinants of health, or similar field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in public health activities.
  • Successful experience in obtaining grants and contracts in public health projects with a focus on Latino(a) or Latinx health disparities and inequities.
  • An established record of excellence in public health and/or Latino(a) or Latinx health research and demonstrated leadership and/or service.
  • Accomplishments commensurate with the criteria for appointment at the academic rank of Associate Professor at the School.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in strategic planning and implementation



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Evidence of skills and experience in administration and staff management.
  • Demonstrated success or potential for strong leadership of collaborative public health endeavors.
  • Demonstrated excellence in developing and implementing collaborative programs in Latino(a) or Latinx public health research or practice.
  • Established networks and partnerships relevant to the work of the LPHI.
  • Experience and expertise in program implementation and evaluation.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • The ability to work with a diverse community, faculty, staff, and student body.
  • Knowledge of the diverse fields of public health education, research, and practice.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborative work in health education, research, or practice.
  • A record of engagement and networking.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience in developing funding proposals, including adherence to sponsor guidelines, solicitation requirements, and managing externally sponsored research projects.
  • Experience leading a research team.
  • Proven effective experience in fundraising (grants and gifts), including engaging in development activities.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE

$137,000 - $142,000.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
