Job Summary
Columbus State University (CSU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Part-time Limited Term Grants Professional in the Office of Sponsored Programs. The successful candidate will have an exciting opportunity to build and advance sponsored research and grant writing through engagement, collaboration, and innovation.The Part-Time Grant Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of externally funded grants and contracts at Columbus State University. This position ensures compliance with federal, state, and sponsor regulations, university policies, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate will maintain accurate financial records, prepare financial reports, and provide support to faculty and staff involved in grant-funded projects from inception to closeout
Responsibilities
- Manage grant budgets, expenditures, and financial transactions to ensure compliance with funding agency requirements, university policies, and GAAP;
- Monitor grant activity to ensure expenditures align with budget restrictions and sponsor guidelines;
- Collaborate with principal investigators (PIs) and staff to provide post-award financial support, including guidance on allowable costs and budget amendments;
- Prepare and submit regular financial reports for PIs, funding agencies, and auditors while maintaining audit-ready documentation;
- Support grant closeout activities, including final reconciliations and reports;
- Stay current on federal, state, and sponsor regulations (e.g., OMB Uniform Guidance) and apply them to grant management practices;
- Assist with internal and external audits related to grants and contracts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
- At least 2 years of experience in grant accounting, finance, or a related role, preferably in higher education;
- Proficiency in accounting software, MS Excel, and familiarity with grant regulations, including OMB Uniform Guidance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems like Banner and/or PeopleSoft;
- Knowledge of fund accounting and post-award grant management in a university setting;
- Three to five years of progressively responsible relevant accounting experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Proposed Salary
$56.25/hr. The maximum hours for this position per week are 19 hours.
