Job Summary

The Database Manager and Prospect Research Analyst has responsibility for evaluating and identifying prospects for the university's fundraising effort as well as maintaining and organizing constituent information in the database. The goal of this position is to provide proactive and reactive prospect research and communicate this information to appropriate fundraising officers and to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the constituent database. This position will work closely with the Director of Advancement Services and with fundraising officers as a partner in helping achieve their department goals.

Responsibilities

Significant Duties & Responsibilities include: Using a variety of online and offline resources, conduct in-depth research and provide analysis to identify major gift, foundation, and corporate prospects based on information such as philanthropic patterns, giving propensity and capacity, interests, tendencies, wealth indicators, and association and connections to the university.; Provide data-driven information to guide gift officers, development leaders, and other university team leadership and staff in their decision-making regarding fundraising strategies, donor relations, stewardship, program initiatives, events, campaigns, outreach efforts, and accounting for the support entities.; Streamline and strengthen prospect portfolio management system of donor prospects and track prospect movement through the relationship pipeline.; Respond to specific research requests and translate fundraisers' needs into technical output.; Develop templates and compose prospect profiles for use by development directors and advancement leaders.; Oversee donor database consisting of approximately 70,000 university relational records ensuring data integrity is preserved and that it contains information that is accurate, current, and accessible.; Direct the maintenance of alumni, friends, donors, and prospect records in the University Advancement database (Raiser's Edge), including analysis of information received via returned mail, constituent contact, gifts, internet research, internal notices and other avenues of information exchange, and its impact on related records.; Implement monthly database maintenance projects, high-level data imports from CSU databases, as well as moving and integrating crowd funding platforms and other third-party databases into Raiser's Edge.; Maintain and update donor records based on research, analysis, and visit reports.; Responsible for high-level import and export of information within donor and alumni database (Raiser's Edge).; Create and provide lists for departments (Chief Development Officers, Deans, Advancement staff, etc.) for a variety of projects including direct mail solicitations, publications, and cultivation events.; Develop, review, and analyze queries, exports, and reports for mailings, invitations, gift reporting, and other routine or ad hoc data requests.; Manage training and support on usage of the Raiser's Edge database and Raiser's Edge NXT.; Design and implement initial training for new team members to ensure accuracy and review the work on an ongoing basis for additional training opportunities.; Responsible for handling the maintenance, backup, and upgrades of the Raiser's Edge and Financial Edge databases, as well as other databases within Advancement Services' purview.; Assist the Gift Coordinator with the receiving, coding, entering, receipting and/or acknowledging, reconciling and posting of off-line and online gifts to the CSU Foundation and three supporting foundations as well as non-gift revenue received through the Foundation office.; Import NetCommunity event registrations and related income into the donor database.; Produce and mail monthly pledge reminders to assist with the pledge fulfillment and stewardship process.; Learn and remain current on software features, departmental procedures of the database, and prospect research resources to ascertain database comprehensiveness and effective utilization.; Assist Advancement Services Director in formulating, advocating, and updating internal policy and procedure manuals to reflect changes in best practices.; Hire, train, and supervise Student Assistants.; Serve as back-up for the Advancement Services Director and Gifts Coordinator.; Help with coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Advancement Services front office including opening and distributing mail, greeting and directing visitors, answering phones, receiving incoming gifts and deposits, maintaining the Advancement Services' email and master calendar, and any other required assistance.; In times of overflow or lack of office coverage handle the gift receipting, as well depositing monies to bank via RED (Remote Express Deposit) Teller Scan.; Administer the creation of new funds in conjunction with the accounting team.; Initiate regular communication of new funds, appeals, and procedures with team members, the accounting team, and the University Advancement staff.; Provide regular metrics and audit reports that test, measure and track the success and progress of records maintenance and gift processing activities.; Execute prospect/donor strategies for cultivation, proposal development, solicitation, and stewardship, and serve as strategic thought partner for CSU gift officers and CSU team leadership.; Establish and maintain appeals structure in Raiser's Edge, including timely addition of assigned appeals based on list generation.; Serve as project manager for major database and systems projects.; Direct and supervise training opportunities for all University Advancement staff through Blackbaud and other resources.; Continuously evaluate and improve business processes within Advancement Services to increase and improve operating efficiencies, knowledge and skill of staff, distribution of information and meaningful analysis of data, and verify accuracy, quality and integrity of critical constituent and financial data.

Proposed Salary

The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $56,723 - 62,314 and includes full benefits.
