Job Description
Parking Enforcement Officers serve as front-line ambassadors of the department tasked with maintaining orderly and safe use of parking resources on campus. While patrolling campus, officers accurately issue citations for vehicles parked in violation of the University of Tennessee's parking regulations. For certain parking infractions a vehicle will need to be booted or towed. To issue citations officers will walk parking lots or use LPR (License Plate Reader) equipped vehicles. To ensure safety, officers monitor critical areas such as accessible spaces, fire lanes, and roadways to keep them unobstructed.
Responsibilities
- Accurately Issue citations to vehicles parked in violation of University of Tennessee parking regulations.
- Immobilize and/or tow vehicles as warranted.
- Use hand-held computer units to check for counterfeit, lost, or stolen permits.
- Use two way radio to communicate with departmental personnel
- Operate UT Vehicle
- Serve as an ambassador for campus when interacting and assisting customers and the general public
- Perform and record vacancy counts for evaluation of parking utilization.
- Evaluate condition of parking lots.
- Report maintenance needs.
- Direct traffic and assist with special events as needed.
- Recommend improvements to parking procedures and operations as related to area of responsibility
- Properly care for and maintain equipment used.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to independently handle irate customers
- Physical ability to traverse parking lots and occasionally rough terrain.
- Ability to lift 25-50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with parking policies
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of campus layout
- General working knowledge of mechanical equipment and tools

- Position is onsite and located in Knoxville, Tennessee.

- Anticipated hiring range: $35,360.00
