Job Summary
Health and Wellness Services (H&WS) is searching for a Facilities Operations Manager! This role is responsible for facility operations at the Wardenburg Health Center (WHC), ensuring compliance with healthcare facility regulations and accreditation standards. This position manages facility capital improvements, supervises internal building projects, and ensures projects are completed within budget, scope, and timeline. Additionally, the role serves as the official building proctor, developing procedures and policies to enhance facility management.
In collaboration with leadership, the position promotes a culture of innovation and operational efficiency that supports the mission and evolving needs of H&WS. This role works closely with Medical Services, Administrative Services, and other H&WS departments to ensure facility operations, safety protocols, and wellness initiatives are effectively implemented and integrated throughout the WHC.

H&WS departments include Medical Services, Counseling and Psychiatric Services, Disability Services, Health Promotion, Administrative Services, Office of Victims Assistance, Testing Center, and Faculty and Staff Assistance Program.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Facilities Services Operations Management
- Ensure WHC meets health facility maintenance and cleanliness standards, including the functionality of HVAC, security systems, and medical equipment.
- Develop and maintain protocols to ensure WHC facilities meet all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Be responsible for building-wide project management, working with Facilities Management to ensure compliance with university construction guidelines, permitting, and project timelines.
- Participate in safety and risk assessment evaluations for building projects.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors, consultants, and contractors.
- Collaborate with the Environment of Care team, including the Compliance Coordinator and Infection Prevention Nurse to implement risk management planning, training, and work condition assessments.
- Track, analyze, and report key facility metrics, working with the Assistant Director of Quality Management, Infection Prevention Nurse, and Compliance Coordinator to evaluate facility incidents and safety concerns.
- Manage elevator service contracts and ensure compliance with State of Colorado conveyance regulations.
- Provide facility-related support to Administrative and Medical Services leadership.
- Collaborate with Facilities Management on new projects by creating work orders, monitoring progress, and following through to completion.
- Manage and ensure compliance for generator contracts by completing monthly checks and yearly full maintenance schedule.
- Collaborate with other building proctors across campus on campus wide initiatives, closures, and emergency responses.
- Be responsible for facilities managements for Medical Services satellite offices across campus, including the Rec Center and Williams Village.
- Support H&WS departments with temporary support related to furniture assembling and moving.
- Assist with set up for H&WS events on campus.
- Ensure safety and security protocols support a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.
- Supervise building security measures, including lock schedules and fire safety compliance.
- Manage Buff OneCard access (e.g., CCure, Salto) for H&WS employees, ensuring proper access levels for internal doors, cabinets, and external entries.
- Collaborate with Compliance and Infection Control teams to ensure WHC meets accreditation and regulatory compliance regarding medication and patient-related log.
- Investigate and respond to complex facility-related incident reports, including injuries, facility issues, and air quality concerns.
- Supervise hazardous materials and waste management to align with environmental and health regulations.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate a minimum of 6.0 FTE custodial and structural trade staff.
- Assign projects, set priorities, and ensure timely completion of facility maintenance tasks.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Develop and handle the facility operations budget, ensuring financial efficiency and alignment with H&WS strategic goals.
- Supervise the procurement of facility-related supplies, equipment, and materials necessary for the maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency of the WHC building.
- Monitor the medical equipment and preventive maintenance and calibration program and logs, ensuring ongoing and as-needed maintenance is conducted in a timely manner.
- Establish, update, and ensure adherence to facility management policies and procedures in compliance with university regulations, FERPA, HIPAA, PCI, and accreditation standards, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the WHC building.
- Represent WHC in key committees, including WHS Environment of Care rounds, AAAHC Accreditation Committee, Infection Control Committee, Campus Safety Council, Quality Improvement Committee, and the Risk Oversight Committee.
What You Should Know
The anticipated work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, with occasional evenings and weekends required.
What We Can Offer
The salary range is $73,000 - $82,000 annually.

What We Require
- Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience can substitute for the degree.
What You Will Need
- Familiarity with OSHA, HIPAA, FERPA, PCI, and other regulatory requirements applicable to healthcare settings.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, including an ability to investigate facility-related incidents and recommend solutions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams and partners.
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, facility management software, and other technology used for operations, reporting, and compliance tracking.
- Understanding of building systems, maintenance practices, and healthcare-specific facility requirements.
- Ability to supervise building projects from inception to completion, ensuring scope, budget, and timeline adherence.
- Ability to ensure facility operations compliance with accreditation and healthcare facility regulations.
- Able to lead a team, providing guidance, conducting performance evaluations, and addressing personnel matters.
- Ability to work effectively across departments, ensuring seamless coordination of facility operations.
- Ability to handle operational budgets, negotiating contracts, and optimizing resource allocation.
- Ability to develop emergency response plans.
