Administrative Assistant III - Accounting Department

The College of Southern Nevada's department of Accounting and Finance is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant III.

This position will provide various levels of support to the Department Chair, Program Directors, Faculty, Staff, and Students while supporting components of the department's operations. This role is designed to help serve the department as a whole and will need to collaborate with internal and external departments, multiple faculty members, and the administrative assistant team. The candidate for this position must have highly effective organizational skills and acute attention to detail.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing administrative support to the Department Chair of the Accounting and Finance, Program directors, and Faculty.
  • Preparing faculty contracts; coordinating and assisting with processing newly hired faculty.
  • Coordinate communications between the department chair and other professional and administrative staff both within and outside the work unit, receive and relay sensitive information related to the department activities and personnel; provide explanations regarding established policies and procedures.
  • Participate in organizing, scheduling, and coordinating special events and activities.
  • Maintain all book adoptions for the department and ordering textbooks for faculty.
  • Submitting work tickets with OTS, Facilities Department, or the Print Shop.
  • Coordinating and participating in preparation of the schedule of classes for academic programs.
  • Answering phones; responding to emails.
  • Working with a variety of general office equipment.
  • Utilizing various computer programs such as Workday, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, 25Live, Peoplesoft, and MyCSN.
  • Attending meetings and training at various campuses.
  • Interacting with students, faculty, and administration.
  • Maintaining accurate records and files.
  • Managing and prioritizing job assignments.
  • Ensuring work products meet established standards of quantity and quality.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair for needs of the office, division, and institution.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Workday, Peoplesoft, and MyCSN.
  • Must possess superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with a demonstrated dedication to customer service.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Experience working in post-secondary setting.
  • Experience working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce.


Starting Salary

Classified Grade 27, Step 1 - $46,207.44

Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
