Simmons University is in need of an adjunct lecturer this fall to teach POLS 223, "Human Rights: Basic Dilemmas." It's scheduled on Mondays 3:00-5:50, and currently has 24 students enrolled. The course description is as follows:POLS 223 Human Rights: The Basic DilemmasExamines the basic dilemmas surrounding the issue of human rights in international affairs since 1945. After an overview of the emergence of the "human rights regime," we will explore debates over the universality of human rights and over the proper way to define them (as civil, economic and social, and/or cultural). Case studies of human rights violations will highlight key policy choices that confront activists, citizens, and policymakers alike.Qualifications:
  • PhD or advanced PhD candidate in a social science, or a related field;
  • Prior teaching experience preferred;
  • No requirement for having taught this particular class before.
