Part Time Instructor - Interior Design

Position Summary
Part-time faculty will teach undergraduate courses in Interior Design, including, studio and seminar courses.

Courses to be taught may include, but are not limited to: Architectural Drawing, Form, Space & Theory, Construction and Details, Space Planning, Architectural Graphics, Computer Applications for ID, CADD, Interior Materials, Lighting & Design, History of the Built Environment, Environmental Systems and Sustainability, Textiles for Interior Design, Codes and Construction Documents, and Project Management.

Integration of a variety of digital media into Design Studios.

Commit to implementation of CIDA standards in all courses taught.

Essential Functions
Part-time faculty prepare course outlines based on an approved departmental syllabus;

Prepare exams and assessments for assigned courses;

Work collaboratively with department faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met;

Document lectures, PowerPoints, handouts, and student tests and projects for CIDA Binders;

Completion of CIDA Binder at end of semester;

Perform other duties as required in the completion of the teaching and grading process.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Applicants must have experience in practicing interior residential/commercial design.

Specific Interior Design Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities will depend upon the course to be taught.

Overall skills and abilities necessary include:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Outstanding conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills.
Computer based skills (i.e., software, including design software such as AutoCAD & SketchUp, analytical, and report writing skills.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
Educational Requirements will vary dependent on course to be taught.

Lecture-based courses require a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in related discipline.

Studio-based courses require a minimum of a Masters degree in interior design or closely related discipline.

Required Work Experience
Minimum of 2 years work experience in the field.

Preferred Qualifications
Terminal degree (Ph.D., MFA or MID) in interior design or a closely-related field.

NCIDQ Certificate Holder.

Registered Interior Designer.

LEED Certification.

Two years experience in higher education teaching.

Active member of IDEC, ASID, IIDA, or AIA.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
NCIDQ Certificate Holder is required to teach studio-based classes.
