Position Summary
The Resident Assistant (RA) is a student employed by the Department of Residence Life and Housing Operations who lives in the residence halls and serves as the first point of contact for residents. This is a part-time position whose anticipated workload averages to 20 hours or less a week. The RA works with the Residence Life Professional Staff to establish a positive environment for the development of residents through programming, residence hall standards, and supportive living and learning communities in the residence halls. The Resident Assistant (RA) works under the direct supervision of the RL Professional Staff of his/her area and the indirect supervision of the entire RL Professional Staff. Resident Assistants are expected to meet all expectations as set forth by the Focused Learning And Growth System resident curriculum. Each RA is expected to develop and implement activities and programs that enhance community and meet residents' personal and academic needs. The RA serves as a role model on and off campus for students in every aspect of University life and is expected to guide his or her residence in the development of community standards of behavior, as well as in upholding University policies and procedures.
