Position Summary
The Secretary provides secretarial support to the School of Professional Studies including supporting administrators and staff with everyday duties and processing while working in Banner and Blackboard to create and maintain course and book information; special projects; office workflow; academic support; appointments; correspondence data compilation and records control.
This position is considered a Responsible Employee under Title IX federal regulations and Mandatory Reporter under Texas state law and The UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about violating Title IX. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Description of Job Duties
-Creates and maintains class schedules;
-Assists Academic Support Manager with projects related to faculty support, Blackboard, Bannerweb, course scheduling, course development, course copy, and student/faculty orientations;
-Answers telephones and responds to faculty inquiries;
-Prepares and edits correspondence;
-Contributes to the overall success of the department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor;
-Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
-Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service, office, and communication skills;
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities;
-Proficiency in the use of a personal computer as well as the Microsoft Windows operation system and Office software;
-Working knowledge of Banner and Blackboard systems;
-Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
-Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA
Required Education
-High school diploma or its equivalent
Required Work Experience
-Two (2) years of administrative/office experience, preferably in an academic setting;
-Experience working with various software applications;
-Additional education may be substituted for years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
-Three (3) to five (5) years experience
