About the Opportunity:
The post-doctoral position performs basic or applied research of a limited scope, primarily using existing theories and methods. Assists mentor in the interpretation and publication of research results. Maintains the laboratory and may exercise functional supervision over supporting research staff and graduate researchers. Primary responsibility is ensuring that the research is complete. The appointment generally does not extend beyond two years with an annual renewal.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in initiating, executing, and completing clinical research and experiments (50%)
- Prepare and write research papers, presentations (30%)
- Laboratory management (15%)
- Train graduate students (5%)
Qualifications:
Must have a Ph.D. or equivalent; be able to undertake substantially full-time research or scholarship; work under the supervision of a senior scholar.
Specific requirements for this position:
The candidate is preferred a PhD degree in environmental engineering, environmental biotechnology, biological sciences, ecotoxicology, microbiology or toxicology, and previous research experiences and skills in molecular biology, molecular toxicology, biochemistry and bioinformatics. A track record in the development and implementation of bioinformatics tools and/or nanopore sequencing is ideal.
Faculty/lab information (optional):
The post-doctoral research associate will be part of the research group led by Dr. Ameet Pinto in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering which focused on monitoring and management of microbial communities in drinking water systems.
