About the Opportunity:
The Northeastern Public Evaluation Lab (NU-PEL) is looking for a Program Director/Evaluator who can help to coordinate and advance the work of our newly founded Public Evaluation Lab. The person occupying this position will assist NU-PEL staff in maintaining existing community partnerships and nurturing new opportunities, supporting community-based learning and evaluation practices among NU-PEL staff and students, coordinating academic partnerships among faculty at Northeastern University involved in evaluation and helping to develop curricular changes to support evaluation training, networking within the field of evaluation and working with NU-PEL staff in securing external support for new evaluation projects. In addition, this position will exercise functional and administrative management over supporting research staff. The Director will also teach two Evaluation Research methods courses per year. One course each year will be the Techniques of Program Evaluation which currently serves students in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities and Bouve College of Health Sciences.

About NU-PEL:

NU-PEL is an interdisciplinary lab comprised of faculty and student teams conducting evaluation research that leads to healthier communities and enhances the lives of those living within them. The lab is a collaboration of the Institute on Health Equity and Social Justice Research in Bouve College of Health Sciences and the Institute on Race and Justice in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The overall vision of NU-PEL is to build a community-academic partnership to improve our communities and the well-being of the people living in them through the use of evaluation research. This is accomplished by bringing together expertise and resources to advance the theory, practice, and utilization of evaluation through research, education, and service.

NU-PEL's aims are threefold:

1) To build collaborations and share evaluation knowledge and expertise across Northeastern University's colleges.

2) To train undergraduate and graduate students in the techniques of program evaluation through a wide array of experiential learning opportunities.

A priority is to systematically gather feedback from partners, to learn what is working and where changes would be beneficial, as well as gathering critical insights about unmet and emerging needs for evaluation assistance. These community partnerships take time and effort to establish and retain, and they are essential to the NU-PEL mission and offer potential for visibility and sustainable growth.

2. Lead Community-partnered Evaluation Projects and Develop Externally Funded Evaluation Projects. Sustaining NU-PEL requires securing external support for specific evaluation projects that will utilize intergenerational evaluation teams to carry out contracted evaluation services. In addition to working with the NU-PEL faculty to identify and compete for funded evaluation opportunities, the Program Director will identify grant opportunities to support the infrastructure, student training and educational mission of NU-PEL as a training ground for undergraduate and graduate students to engage in evaluation research with community partners. They will conduct evaluation research and lead inter-disciplinary research teams. Develop and support community partnered research engagement. Conceptualize and carry out research, analyze the data, and interpret and disseminate findings with community partners.

One course each year will be the Techniques of Program Evaluation which currently serves student in CSSH and Bouve' (SPP and MPH program). The second course may be this course or a more advanced Evaluation Methods course. Continue to explore development and leadership of a Graduate Certificate in Evaluation Research.

4. Professionalization and networks in the field of evaluation. The Program Director will bring professional opportunities to students and faculty through networking with colleagues through local, national and international organizations and venues. This is anticipated to increase our visibility in the field and opens up new opportunities for collaboration. Examples include AEA's Graduate Education Diversity Internship program, evaluation training institutes and workshops, as well as participation in annual conferences and on professional workgroups.
