The Georgia Cancer Center is on a mission for Georgia providing industry-leading cancer research and care that benefits patients locally and globally. We assemble custom teams of field experts to address each individual's unique needs. The Georgia Cancer Center M. Bert Storey Research Building provides quality research space to promote multidisciplinary collaborations and translational research, which is essential to creating an environment that promotes innovation. Our research approach supports important National Cancer Institute goals including ensuring every cancer patient has access to the newest and most innovative clinical trials in the nation, clinicians and researchers work together to initiate new research protocols based on the clinician's interaction with the patient, and each cancer patient receives personalized treatment through the interaction of the multidisciplinary team of clinicians and allied health professionals.

Job Summary
The Research Assistant will conduct animal care and study, gene cloning, cell culture, immunological assay, flow cytometry after training by lab colleagues.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:

Take care of small animal breeding and colony maintenance
Perform molecular biology experiments such as gene cloning
Conduct immune analysis assay including ELISA and flow cytometry
Perform cell culture
Maintain good experimental record
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to use sound judgement and work independently
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Band: B5

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
