Job Description Summary
Selected applicants will be interviewed to establish a pool of approved Adults with Disabilities instructors for possible part-time teaching assignments in the Continuing Education Division. Assignments may be day, evening, or weekend classes at the San Luis Obispo Campus, the North County Campus, South County Center, or distance education.
Teaching assignments may include: NAWD 710 Employability Skills, NAWD 705 Transition Readiness Preparation, and/or NAWD 701 Skill Building for Work and Community Life.
Applications will be reviewed in three cycles. The review dates will be as follows:

Essential Functions & Qualifications
Required:
Applicants should meet the qualifications in either either pattern (1) or pattern (2) following:
-(1) A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major related to the subject of the course taught; AND either A or B below.
(A) Thirty hours or two semester units of course work or class work in understanding the needs of the older adult, taken at an accredited institution of higher education or approved by the district. This requirement may be completed concurrently during the first year of employment as a noncredit instructor.
OR
(B) One year of professional experience working with older adults.
OR
-(2) An associate degree from an accredited institution with a major related to the subject of the course taught; AND two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; AND sixty hours or four semester units of coursework or classwork in understanding the needs of the older adult, taken at an accredited institution of higher education or approved by the district. This last requirement may be completed concurrently during the first year of employment as a noncredit instructor.
OR
-The equivalent. (Candidates making application on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment. For directions on what is an acceptable equivalency argument please review the requirements listed on the HR Website.)
OR
-A valid Community College credential in the discipline (If received prior to 1990, as the credential is no longer being issued).
Also Required:
-Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Desirable:
-Teaching experience in the discipline, community college level preferred;
-Awareness of the philosophy and objectives of California Community Colleges.
