Description
The Department of Anthropology at Georgetown University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track opening at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The position is for a cultural anthropologist specializing in one or more of the following areas: political anthropology, race, food and culture, and urban ethnography. The geographic and topical foci are open. The position begins in the Fall Semester of the 2025-2026 academic year. The candidate must hold a PhD in Anthropology at the time of appointment. Applicants from historically excluded groups are especially encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses related to their research expertise and the core curriculum of the Department, as well as advise undergraduate anthropology students.

Successful candidates should be committed to academic excellence and diversity, equity, and inclusion in their teaching/mentoring, research, and/or service. This commitment can be demonstrated in many ways, including through scholarship, teaching, and service activities.

Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology by August 1, 2025

The projected base salary range is $84,910 - 94,344 (assistant rank) or $109,541 - 121,712 (associate rank). Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
