Primary Purpose of Position:
The Senior Academic Advisor position will provide academic advisement to NCCU School of Business students at the junior and senior level and assist students in educational planning and career development. This includes one-on-one meetings, workshops, or presentations regarding majors, degree requirements, academic progress, and selection of courses for future semesters; working with students to develop a course schedule; and providing appropriate resources and referrals to campus support services for information and aid in making academic and career decisions.
Minimum Education/Experience:
Minimum requirements include Master's degree in education, counseling, or academic discipline, and five (5) to seven (7) years' experience in higher education to include academic advising, career services or related student services preferred. Experience managing large academic advising loads preferred. Membership in the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) and other professional academic advising/student support organizations preferred. Presentations at regional/national meetings a plus.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent organizational and communication skills. Familiarity and appreciation for the mission and structure of NCCU programs and curricula.
