About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director supports the management and operationalization of new programs, thinking through the broad array of services required to provide an optimal learner experience. A key element of operationalizing new programs is to track and document for potential improvement and scalability. Acting as a main point of contact for students, the Assistant Director coordinates across campus, GEO, college, university, and partner teams to ensure an enriching and high-quality residency experience. The successful Assistant Director works cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to align the vision for new programs, propose operational plans, and implement those plans in partnership with campus, GEO, college, university, and external stakeholders.

The position is responsible for ensuring that students engage in an integrated signature programming through working closely with the onsite staff and/or coordinating with global campus partners managing onsite staff, to ensure that depth and breadth of the signature programming is implemented, evaluated, and continuously improved to support student well-being, community-building, and learning standards meet Northeastern's expectations and accentuate Global Network campuses.

Some travel will be required to Network Campus locations across the domestic US and possibly abroad.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Working knowledge of academic and student life administration.
  • Organizational tact and diplomacy; possesses highly effective interpersonal skills required to develop close relationships with students as well as key influencers around campus and the broader University.
  • Demonstrated ability to build internal and external collaborations, finding solutions benefiting all parties and focusing on long-term success over short-term results.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software required.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Terra Dotta, and student record systems (e.g., Banner) preferred.
  • Knowledge and skills required for this position are normally acquired through a bachelor's degree, Master's preferred in higher education administration or closely related field and at least three years of experience with progressively increasing responsibilities in higher education or adjacent fields.


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Partner with GEO, campus, OTC, college and university staff to develop and operationalize new mobility programs on the campus.
  • Provide direct support and integration between the campus and GEO teams to support the initial launch of new projects, and effectively support the transition of effective programs to other team members as appropriate.
  • Maintain oversight and responsibility for implementation, operations, and evaluation of signature programs.
  • Establish processes to improve the efficiency of program implementation and administration.
  • Oversee program operating budget and, in collaboration with the OTC Finance, approve invoices associated with site expenditures. Approve all staff reimbursements.
  • Collaborate with Education Innovation and on-ground partners on comprehensive and consistent communication flow to staff, faculty, students, and families.
  • Monitor and manage the content of program materials, ensuring that they are accurate and updated. Maintain public facing web-based program information. Ensure policies, procedures, and logistics align with overall signature program philosophies and budget constraints.
  • Establish timelines and dates events, processes and procedures and communicate out appropriately.
  • Hold regular and ad-hoc meetings with onsite staff and/or partners; ensure that agendas are pre-published, minutes are issued, and follow-up actions are resolved within the appropriate timeframes.
  • Coordinate execution of program evaluations for faculty, staff, business and community partners, students and parents in collaboration with Education Innovation colleagues responsible for data and assessment.
  • Serve as a point of contact for signature program stakeholders; serve as the "face" of the signature program with students.
  • Program application management including tracking, eligibility, and follow-up with college advisors as necessary.
  • Actively participate in student recruitment efforts as it applies to signature programming (Welcome Days, Yield Events, Phone-a-thon, Fairs, etc.).
  • Assist with development of community and affinity building programming, including the use of social networking sites community-building purposes around signature programming.
  • Manage outreach and relationships with former participants for alumni relation activities; this may include signature program alumni reunions, volunteer opportunities, and all corresponding communications, as appropriate.
  • Advise on and track metrics of success, per program, to include success criteria, evaluation periods, to determine when to proceed or abandon programs for continued execution on campus and/or scaling to other parts of the network.
