Augusta University's Department of Teaching and Leading is seeking a Lecturer to play a crucial role in shaping the future of the MED AU Online program at Augusta University. We are looking for an innovative self-starter who can be vital in teaching in our online graduate program. In this position, you will collaborate with AU Online to refine courses based on best practices and represent the College of Education and Human Development online, significantly contributing to our team and the future of online education. This role may offer a flexible work arrangement that allows you to balance your professional and personal commitments. This position is not considered to be on tenure track.

The candidate should be well versed in the following design principles for online learning experiences:
  • Universal Design for Learning principles
  • Community of Practice framework
  • Authentic learning assessments
  • Active and generative learning
  • Data-based continuous improvement of courses and teaching


Responsibilities

Teaching - 100%
Developing and teaching introductory and advanced, graduate-level courses in education (teaching a 5-5 load each academic year). Faculty should be prepared to deliver courses online (asynchronous and synchronous). Faculty must keep accurate records of student class performance, attendance, and grades. Faculty will adopt and implement common course objectives and will participate in evaluating student learning objectives. Faculty will perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

Required Qualifications

Earned doctorate from an accredited university in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Research, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field.

Candidate must have a proven track record in online instruction in both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments on a higher-education level.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.


Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Brightspace/D2L is preferred.

Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in online education, K-12 teaching experience, higher education teaching, and a demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty and to mentor classroom teachers.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.

Lecturer - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
