Job Summary:
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Colorado SOM has a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position available at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates must be board eligible/board certified in Thoracic Surgery and have expertise in thoracic surgical techniques. This position provides inpatient/outpatient medical care services primarily at the University of Colorado Hospital. The candidate will also provide independent clinical services for patients at other affiliated hospital sites including the Rocky Mountain VA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inpatient and outpatient surgeries
- Rounding, writing orders, and hospital discharge
- Outpatient assessment, patient education
- Care coordination and disease management
- Collaboration with colleagues, hospital and clinic staff
- Lung transplantation surgeries
- Teach medical students, residents, and fellows, nursing staff
- Engage in scholarly activities, research, and journal publications
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Candidates must possess MD or DO degree
- Candidates must possess or be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Colorado with prescriptive privileges
- Candidates must be board eligible/board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in an inpatient subspecialty
- Prior experience in specialty area
- Prior experience with EPIC
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the professional medical and surgical practice to give and evaluate patient care in the Thoracic Surgery clinic
- Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
- Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of medicine and surgery to provide on-going patient care
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients and their family members, medical staff, residents, fellows, medical students and the public
- Skill in developing, maintaining, and implementing department quality improvement protocols
- Ability to communicate clearly as an integral member of a team

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
$375,000 to $425,000
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
