About the Opportunity

Background:

We are seeking a part-time administrator to support the administrative needs of our NIH-funded research projects at the EPIC Brain Lab. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, facilitating grant management, and assisting with IRB applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in research administration and a commitment to supporting the lab's mission of understanding the brain basis of psychiatric disorders.

The EPIC Brain Lab, led by PI Susan Whitfield-Gabrieli, focuses on multimodal neuroimaging techniques to explore psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders, including schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, autism, and ADHD. Our work aims to enhance early detection, precision psychiatry, innovative treatments, and causal mechanisms in clinical practice.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The administrator's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

IRB Management:
  • Preparing and submitting IRB applications and amendments.
  • Ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines and regulations.


Grant Management:
  • Identifying potential funding opportunities and assisting researchers in preparing applications.
  • Assisting in the preparation of grant proposals and progress reports.
  • Maintaining grant-related documentation and timelines.


Regulatory Compliance:
  • Monitoring adherence to regulatory requirements across projects.
  • Coordinating with research staff to ensure compliance with institutional policies.


Data Management Support:
  • Assisting in the organization and maintenance of project files and data.
  • Supporting data entry and management tasks as needed.


General Administrative Support:
  • Performing other administrative tasks as required to support the lab's research efforts.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, public health, administration).

Administrative Experience: Prior experience in an administrative role, preferably in a research or academic setting.

Familiarity with IRB Processes: Understanding of the IRB submission process and regulatory compliance.

Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with diverse stakeholders.

Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in documentation and compliance tasks.

Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Grant Management: Familiarity with the grant application process and compliance requirements.

Knowledge of Research Regulations: Understanding of federal and institutional regulations related to human subjects research.

Proficiency in Software: Experience with project management tools and databases (e.g., REDCap, Microsoft Office).

Additional Information:

This appointment is funded by an award received from an outside source. The duration of this position is contingent upon the continued availability of funding from this award at its current financial level and will be renewed yearly. The EPIC Brain Lab is located in Northeastern's Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex (ISEC) which is equipped with elevators and stairs on every floor. There are also restrooms on every floor with a gender neutral bathroom located on the first floor. ISEC also has showers available, as well as communal pantries with appliances such as fridges/freezers/microwave ovens.

This position will be a mixture of in person and remote work and can be flexible. Meetings are online or a hybrid format. For hybrid meetings individuals are encouraged to come in person if they are able to.
