Job Summary
Under general supervision, perform tasks to aid in the ongoing support of end-user environments including personal computers (PCs & Macs), PDAs, and peripherals. Work independently to research and resolve hardware and software problems, respond to client requests, and refer only the most complex problem to Tier 3. Corrects hardware, software, and operational problems; maintains service logs; monitors problem/change activities and coordinates involvement of staff, clients, and vendors to ensure effective implementation of resolution of user problems. Provides training, guidance, and instructions to PC Systems Analyst 1 and 2.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE: Install, test, troubleshoots, and maintains hardware and software products including internet and network connectivity for PCs, Macs, PDAs, peripherals, and time clocks; implements and monitors standards and procedures; facilitates backup and recovery; and maintains service logs.
ANALYZE AND ORGANIZE: Analyzes customer procedures. Organizes departmental resources needed and leads design, development and implementation of the most effective solution. Monitors progress of corrective actions to prevent unnecessary delay.
CUSTOMER SUPPORT: Provide telephone, face-to-face and online support to customers.
IDENTIFY AND RESOURCES: Monitors cases to identify potential problem areas (IE aged cases, viruses, VIP, etc) and redirects resources to address these areas. Reviews cases to identify trends or common problems and researches solutions. Provides guidance, assistance, and development to PC Support Specialists I and 11, in customer relations as well as technical matters. Provide technical training and support to fellow co-workers and staff.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT: Creates documentation for use by end-users and technical support personnel. This may include online information, how-to documents, manuals, or other help related files.
ROUTINE FUNCTIONS: Creates and maintains automated scripts to perform routine functions on the workstation. This may be at user login or a user-initiated action.
CAMPUS: Plans, implements, and monitors tasks associated with departmental and campus wide project efforts. Participates on Campus wide projects as Team Member or Team Lead.
STATUS INFORMATION: Provides detailed status information and estimated time of resolution to customers in a timely manner.
SERVICE REQUEST: Creates, maintains, and completes required information on service request in an incident management system.
QUOTES: Creates quotes for computer/printer/software based on evaluation of customer needs.
OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related field and three years of related experience or Associate's degree/Technical diploma from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related field and 6 years of relevant experience, or High School diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization and ten years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
A+ Certification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
Working knowledge of problem tracking software.
Understanding of Tier level support organizations.
Knowledge of the campus/hospital network infrastructure.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
In depth knowledge of computer hardware, software, operating systems, and internet/network connectivity.
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, prioritization, and customer service skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally, and in writing with customers to obtain all required information necessary to determine and address their specific needs.
Proven ability to work effectively within a team.
Proven ability to develop an effective, collaborative working relationship with a variety of representative groups.
Ability to analyze a problem and define/implement the solution to the problem.
Ability to manage time wisely and in an organized manner to best complete a given set of task.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal hours may be required)
Pay Grade: B12
Salary: $62,300/annually - $64.400/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
