As a Custodian at UVU, you'll play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff. This position involves a variety of custodial tasks, including floor care, restroom maintenance, and safe handling of cleaning products. You'll also receive training on proper procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous materials. With a regular Monday-Friday schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, this role offers a predictable routine and the opportunity to be part of a supportive team dedicated to excellence. Summary of Responsibilities

Responsible for securing doors and windows of all areas and all buildings. Assists in emergency procedures and assists in recycling and pest control.
Helps the campus and facilities maintain good public image by providing a safe, clean, comfortable environment conducive to learning for students, visitors and employees.
Maintains all type of floor surfaces, fabric surfaces and upholstery.
Maintains and cleans restrooms, including porcelain and stainless steel surfaces, walls, floor drains, floors, etc.
Maintains offices, classrooms, labs, conference rooms, dining room, food preparation and serving areas and ballroom.
Maintains halls, stairs, elevators, entry ways and lobbies. Maintains inventory and cleans custodial closets and storage areas.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

High school diploma from a standard high school or the equivalent and any combination of post high school education and/or directly related full-time experience to the Summary of Duties totaling six months is required.
Must have a current Driver's License for occasional travel.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge
Knowledge of training in proper use and disposal of hazardous chemicals and products.
Knowledge of body fluid cleanup and proper protection.
Knowledge of proper radio communications.
Knowledge of pest control.
Knowledge of all floor types, such as terrazzo, cement, wood, vinyl, and ceramic tile as well as carpet fibers, weaves and backings.
Knowledge of waxes/polishes, acids, other chemicals, buffers, extractors, vacuums and scrubbers.
Knowledge of current cleaning techniques and proper cleaning chemicals.

Skills

Good interpersonal communication skills.

Abilities

Ability to withstand strenuous and adverse working conditions.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to perform skilled custodial duties, equipment maintenance and minor plumbing.
