Research Associate Position - Division of Rheumatology

The Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of antigen-specific CD4+ T cell analysis using peptide-MHC multimers, protein biochemistry, and spectral flow cytometry. Five years of postdoctoral experience in human immunology is required at the start of this position. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.
Responsibilities may include the ability to lead projects and work cooperatively with others, carry out and troubleshoot experiments, and assist in manuscript and grant writing. Previous computational and wet-lab experience is required.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to collaborate on grant proposals and journal publications, participate in the department's educational programs as assigned, and mentor/teach junior lab members. The selected candidate will work in an interdisciplinary environment with experts in immunology, autoimmunity, and statistical modeling.
The successful applicant will be self-motivated and have a strong background in standard molecular and biological techniques, cell culture, immunological assays, and recombinant protein production.
