Job Summary:

A Qualitive Data Coordinator is needed to support the work of Dr. Katherine LeMasters, a social epidemiologist that studies mass incarceration as a public health crisis. The coordinator will work closely with Dr. LeMasters on research coordination, qualitative data management, qualitative data collection, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have experience working directly with incarcerated individuals and a background in qualitative research.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect, code, and analyze qualitative data generated from individual interviews, focus groups, or other text-based sources.
  • Coordinate with prisons and jails for research studies (e.g., coordinate availability of space, paying incarcerated participants, scheduling jail-based interviews).
  • Participate in subject recruitment efforts, including communicating with subjects expressing an interest and all pre-screening/screening activities.
  • Perform informed consent process or ensures that the informed consent process has occurred, is properly documented, and that informed consent form documents are filed as required.
  • Interview prospective subjects for a variety of research studies. Educate potential subjects on the details of the studies through phone contacts and personal interviews.
  • Assist with and oversee the day-to-day operations of studies.

Work Location:

Hybrid - This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 1-2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in any field.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience (ex. Experience working with criminal legal systems such as jail, prison, community corrections, or qualitative data, clinical research, etc.) may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in science or health related field.
  • Clinical research or related experience.
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. EMR or EHR and data management systems).
  • Qualitative research experience (interviewing, coding, and analyzing qualitative data).
  • Experience working with incarcerated and previously incarcerated individuals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $47,743 - $60,729.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
