Operations Manager for CIRS

Requirements

Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the administration, finance, and strategic operations of the Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRS). This role manages research projects, events, and partnerships while ensuring alignment with university policies. The ideal candidate will have experience in academic operations, budgeting, and team leadership, with strong organizational and communication skills.

Key Accountabilities
  • Identify, initiate, and maintain internal and external partnerships and networks to the benefit of the strategic development of CIRS programs and initiatives.
  • Oversee the daily operations and administrative processes of CIRS including finance, budgeting, facilities management, information technology, and human resources in accordance with university policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the execution of CIRS research projects, programs, public events, and initiatives, from initiation to completion.


Key activities
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, contribute to the strategic development of CIRS programs and initiatives, ensuring they are implemented and in alignment with the vision and strategic priorities of CIRS and GU-Q.
  • Conduct outreach and articulately represent CIRS research to potential partners and a network of scholars and practitioners.
  • Develop and implement efficient systems and procedures to enhance the effectiveness of CIRS operations, ensuring alignment with CIRS and the University's strategic goals.
  • Manage and oversee the work of reporting staff, including setting and reviewing performance objectives, and identifying training and development needs.
  • Monitor and review CIRS spending for the fiscal year in conjunction with budget to actual information.
  • Prepare budget requests for each new fiscal year.
  • Provide operational oversight.
  • Other similar duties, as assigned.


Requirements
  • 4+ years of relevant experience, preferably in an academic institution.
  • Experience managing staff in a team environment.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining strategic networks and partnerships.
  • Experience in operations and budget management.
  • Master's Degree Required
  • Academic background in International Relations, Politics, Economics or related disciplines preferred
  • Familiarity with the culture of academia and research institutions.
  • Strong, professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
  • Arabic language knowledge is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and coordination skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a team to complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
