Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Mental Health, the counselor will provide counseling services and activities to promote mental health for students.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

COUNSELING: Provide individual/group counseling to students to include administration and interpretation of assessment instruments, treatment plan development, case management, care coordination, client advocacy, crisis intervention and consultation. Maintain adequate and appropriate documentation of counseling records.

STUDENT NEEDS: Develop and conduct psycho-educational workshops, class presentations, and other outreach programs to address preventative and developmental needs of students.

COLLABORAITION: Collaborate with other campus departments/offices, campus committees and student organizations to provide joint programming for students.

TRAINING: Provide training to appropriate campus organizations, faculty and staff regarding relevant mental health issues of college students.

EDUCATION PROGRAMS: Attend continuing education programs required for professional license and certification maintenance and maintain best practices of current professional trends for college counseling centers.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Complete additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Mental Health. These may include serving as relief in the front office, campus trainings, and possible outreach to community organizations/groups.

OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field from an accredited college or university.

Licensed or license eligible in the state of Georgia as a licensed professional counselor or licensed clinical social worker.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience working in a university counseling center setting.

Experience providing group and couples counseling.

Experience and proficiency in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of mental health disorders.

Experience providing emergency services and treating more severe mental health concerns.

Prior experience with a wide range of clinical cases and patient populations.

Experience providing outreach presentations on mental health topics relevant to university students.

Commitment to providing counseling that acknowledges various backgrounds and addresses the mental health needs of underrepresented individuals and communities.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, prioritization, and customer service skills

Excellent analytical communication skills

ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal hours may be required)

This position is a limited term position (estimated time frame of employment no more than 3 years).

Pay Grade: B9

Salary: $48,800/annually - $50,752/annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position

Conditions of Employment
