Job Description
The Social Work Office of Research and Public Service is a leader in applied social science research at the University of Tennessee. The person in this role will help shape and develop the new Tennessee Safety Net Research Consortium which - in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Human Services and other research partners - will develop research projects to promote the transformative nature of Tennessee Social Safety Net on the Tennesseans who need it. This person will provide administrative support related to all the Consortium members including, but not limited to, creating and maintaining schedules, serving as point of contact for both members and external stakeholders as well as the public, record keeping and complex reporting. They will be an experienced admin assistant and be able to work effectively with finance, government, and research teams. Above all, they will have an opportunity to impact the effectiveness of social programs for the Tennesseans who use them.


Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day activity management and efficient operations of the Consortium.

- Creates program and participant schedules across multiple agencies; monitors and documents progress for completion.

- Serves as a liaison between the Consortium participants and external stakeholders.

- Prepares for external reviews by ensuring the Consortium meets record keeping requirements based on professional and university standards.

- Performs continuous assessment of the Consortium to ensure program requirements are met.

- Supports the smooth functioning of all Consortium staff vis-a-vis equipment and procurement needs.

- Interprets, implements, and ensures compliance with applicable policies according to professional standards.

- Consults, advises and provides guidance to staff and stakeholders.

- Creates and submits complex reports that have far-reaching implications on direction and work of consortium

- Serves as main point of administrative knowledge for the program members and external stakeholders

- All aspects of office and administrative support for the manager, program manager and other consortium members.

Qualifications
  • Education:
    • High School Diploma
  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years experience as an administrative assistant in an office or virtual environment
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
    • Knowledge of administrative procedures and systems
    • Demonstrated skills in computers, customer service, academic research and writing.
    • Ability to multitask, gather data, compile information and prepare reports
    • Tact and discretion in a professional setting


Preferred Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience:
    • Experience of collaborative work in an academic or research setting
    • Experience in procurement and / or travel in a university setting


  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
    • Knowledge of databases and database management
    • Familiarity with academic research and data gathering processes


Work Location
  • Position is remote but may require travel within the State of Tennessee

Compensation and Benefits
  • UT market range: MR 07
  • Anticipated hiring range: Midpoint of the range
