Position Description
Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to: Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.
Major/Essential Functions
- Supervise First Gen Peer Mentors: Manage recruitment, hiring, training, and ongoing development of first-gen peer mentors.
- Collaboration with Campus Partners: Partner with On Track Champions, Parent & Family Relations, College Readiness, and other campus stakeholders to provide a comprehensive support system for first-generation students.
- First-Generation Student Support & Events: Plan and execute events specifically for first-gen students during Raider Welcome, First Gen Week, and throughout the year, in collaboration with campus partners, to foster connection, resource engagement, and a sense of belonging. Ensure the First Gen Red Raiders website is a comprehensive resource with up-to-date information on services, events, and opportunities for first-generation students.
- First Gen & Department Representation: Represent First Gen Red Raiders & the department as a whole by attending and engaging at campus events aimed at supporting current & prospective first-generation & first-year students.
- Serve as First-Gen Student Org Advisor: Advise and support a first-generation student organization, offering guidance to student leaders and contributing to the development of their initiatives.
- Committee Participation: Participate in relevant campus committees and initiatives that support the success and advocacy of first-generation & first-year students.
- Data Collection & Analysis: Track and analyze data on first-gen student success, including retention, academic performance, engagement with support services, and graduation rates.
- Event & Program Support: Assist with preparation and implementation of Student Engagement events, programs, and initiatives including, but not limited to, Hub City Fest, Texas Techspo, Majors & Minors Fair, Mentor Tech, Tech Leadership Institute, and First Year Raider Experience.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- The diverse nature of this position requires a professional with knowledge of and/or experience with student development programs on a college campus.
- Master's degree in higher education, student personnel/student affairs or related fields preferred.
