Job Summary

The Laboratory Supply Technician supports a wide variety of laboratory operations in both chemistry and physics to meet institutional teaching and research missions. In certain circumstances, this position may need to support the activities of other units within the College of Science and Mathematics.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

FACILITIES: Coordinate with Facilities as needed for building issues.

ADMINISTRATIVE: Determine needs, obtain quotes and purchase laboratory equipment and supplies (including all necessary interactions with vendors, purchasing office, and receiving).

FINANCIAL: Maintain inventories (including chemicals, equipment, supplies, and computers) and organization of stockrooms.

TECHNOLOGICAL: Coordinate or perform troubleshooting and repair of laboratory items.

SAFETY: Perform functions related to safe laboratory conditions and operations such as testing eyewash stations, coordinating chemical waste disposal, and securing labs.

PURCHASING: Maintain purchasing records related to laboratory and research, including balances of research grants

OTHER: Perform other related duties as needed for smooth laboratory operations. In certain circumstances, support the activities of other units within the College of Science and Mathematics.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural. life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area with one year of applicable experience in a lab setting.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Knowledge of P-Card and purchasing rules, standard accounting principles, and hiring processes.

SKILLS

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality; prioritize tasks and manage time; self-identify needs within scope of work duties; work independently and focus work habits.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).

Salary Minimum: 18.85 hourly.

Pay Band: B6

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
